Once you move into your new place, you will want to keep track of how to dispose of your garbage. This is an important part of being a new tenant and can often seem overly complicated at first.
Stick to the Schedule
On assigned garbage days, bring all of your garbage outside to the street. Sticking to your schedule is a very important part of being a responsible student in the Windsor. Part of having the privilege of living in your own space means upholding the responsibilities expected of you.
Use the City of Windsor website to locate which day is your garbage collection day recycling and yard waste. We recommend writing down the date or adding it into your calendar on your mobile device so you will never forget to take out the garbage.
The city collects hard-sided containers of garbage every week. You need to take out this container by 6 a.m. on the assigned day. Set an alarm so you wake up early in the morning, or take out the container the night before. It collects hard-sided containers of paper products, and a separate hard-sided containers for all recyclables every other week. There is no organic collection in Windsor currently.
You do not want to miss any days because any excess garbage that might be collected at a later date will be ticketed by the city and result in a fine that will cost you anywhere between $200 and $500.
We do not want you to take this responsibility lightly. We have seen many students charged with this fine and the financial cost sets them back quite a bit. So, please do remember to take out your garbage and avoid any unnecessary fines.
